At Polyethylene production facility was tested a new polymerization catalyst

Team of the division of halogen-derivatives of ethylene, their polymers and copolymers has completed the trial of a new catalyst for ethylene polymerization into polyethylene. About this activity was reported to the editorial staff of a newspaper «NK» by Volodymyr Deyneka, a chief of this division of Ethylene and PE production facility of «KARPATNAFTOCHIM» LTD.

– Within three days we were using the polymerization catalyst of Chinese production, which was specially purchased for applicability testing for its possible further use in the process of ethylene polymerization into polyethylene- tells Volodymyr Ivanovych. – About 11:00 on the 5^th of July were discharged its last kilograms from the second container; and then we again transferred to the catalyst of one of CIS countries output that we have been using long since.

– How passed a test of a new catalyst and if the expected result has been reached?

– Without problems, because Chinese specialists supported us. Yaroslav Shepida, a chief deputy of Ethylene and Polyethylene production facility contacted them and took consultations from them, if it was necessary.

Within three days we consumed 200 kilograms of Chinese polymerization catalyst and produced 900 tons of PE. Approximately 300 tonnes of this product per day were also obtained while using a conventional catalyst that is being used by us for many years.

Regarding the results of Chinese catalyst trial, should be mentioned that it is quite suitable and is fit for polymerization process of ethylene into polyethylene for a grade, which we are producing now. Concerning some parameters a trial catalyst is even better, particularly in aluminum to chromium ratio; it can also maintain high loads at polyethylene unit, etc.

Now we are preparing a written report about a new catalyst trial. In this report will be described everything in detail, including the analysis results of output product – polyethylene, which is desired by the consumers for a thin film and other articles production. Then will be held a technical meeting under leadership of General Director of our Company. There will be taken a decision regarding the issue of the entire or partly transition on Chinese catalyst of ethylene polymerization into polyethylene, or some other decision.
